Scenes

Scenes are the sections of a song — intro, verse, drop. Each one remembers which pattern every group plays. Build them with Commit, switch between them live, and chain them in Song mode.

Working with scenes

  • Hold MAIN and press − or + to step through scenes, or hold MAIN and type a number to jump to one (MAIN mode).
  • Press SHIFT + MAIN to store the current scene and carry on in a copy (Commit).
  • Hold ERASE + MAIN for two seconds to delete an empty scene that isn’t in the song (DEL), or to clear one that is (CLR) (Erase and undo).

Song mode

Song mode plays scenes in an order you choose. The song list holds up to 99 positions, each playing one scene for as long as that scene’s longest pattern — up to 9,801 bars in total.

  1. Hold MAIN and press ENTER to open the song list editor. The display shows the current song position.
  2. Use − and + to move between positions.
  3. Hold SHIFT and press A to add a scene to the song list.
  4. Hold SHIFT and press − or + to change which scene the current position plays.
  5. Press PLAY to play from the current position, or SHIFT + PLAY to play from the start.

How songs behave (OS 2.0.1 and later)

  • The song stops when it reaches the end — or loops, with setting 421 (song loop on).
  • Stopping returns you to the position you started from.
  • Leaving song mode keeps you in the scene that was playing.
  • Loop mode pauses the song’s progression while it is on.
  • Since OS 2.5 the MIDI song position pointer counts from the start of the song, so a DAW’s playhead lines up.
